Do your clients struggle with online sexual behavior? Has Internet sexuality undermined your treatment and recovery of the clients with whom you work? Internet pornography, chat rooms, newsgroups, social networking are just some of the areas that can cause significant life impairment and consequences. If you work with one of the millions of individuals who struggle with online sexual behavior, this intensive workshop will help you understand, assess, and treat the client who struggles with their online sexuality. Regardless of whether you have years of experience as a clinicians, or are just starting out - this intensive workshop will help individualize an assessment plan and provide you with specific tools and suggestions for working with cybersex compulsives. Although you may have participated in other intensive workshops, this is the first and only intensive specifically designed to address cybersex related issues. The intensive will not only help identify problem areas of the Internet, but will assist in developing an Internet Health Plan to promote lifelong success for clients.

Topics and Resources covered during the intensive will include:

  • Understanding the methods and venues of online sexual behavior
  • Comprehensive individualized assessment of client behavior
  • Development of a fully functional Internet accountability plan
  • Assessing client's current stage of change (based on Prochaska's Stages of Change)
  • Differentiation between first and second levels of change and relapse prevention for Internet use
  • Introduction to the role of intimacy formation and its relationship to the Internet
  • Use of creative and engaging methods for understanding and breaking the problematic Internet cycle
  • Understanding the power and attraction of the Internet and techniques for breaking the cycle
  • Understanding the relationship between child pornography and risk to community
  • A number of other Internet specific topics and exercises will be included throughout the intensive

Friday, March 28, 2008 - 9:00am - 6:00pm
Saturday, March 29, 2008 - 9:00am - 3:00pm

CEU applications for Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Workers, Professional Counselors, National Certified Counselors, and Psychologists have been filed in the State of Minnesota for 15.5 hours of CEUs. Determining reciprocation by other states is the responsibility of the participant.


 

Cost and Payment Information

The cost of the three-day intensive for Cybersex Compulsive Issues is $800 per person.
This cost includes all materials for the workshop, snacks & beverages during workshop hours
and a copy of the book In the Shadows of the Net (2nd. ed.).

The cost does not include transportation, hotel accommodations, or meals.

Breakfast is included with the room rate at the Best Western Hotel.

A $200 deposit is required to reserve your place in the workshop.
